Services

Baptismal and birth service

Baptismal and birth services are ceremonies that celebrate the entrance of a new life into the Christian faith and community. Different denominations and traditions may have different ways of conducting these services but we both have child baptisms as “grown-ups baptism”.

Different denominations and traditions may have different ways of conducting these services, but they all share the common purpose of blessing the child and welcoming them into your family and into our world.

In Aruba there are also other religions that practice baptismal and birth services. One of the ministers who performs these services is Vincent, an ordained minister and seminarian and candidate for the priesthood in the Open Episcopal Church.
Vincent has been serving the Aruban community for many years, offering both denominational and non-denominational baptismal and birth services to mark a child’s birth and welcoming it in our midst. Vincent is a respected and compassionate leader who believes in the power of God’s grace and love for all people. We do not offer the possibility of re-baptism, but we do offer the renewal of the baptismal promise.
Baptism is therefore not an inclusion in a church or institute but an inclusion in community and the love of God.

Pastoral/ spiritual counselling

People have various reasons for going on vacation, such as relaxing, exploring, having fun, creating memories, improving health, boosting creativity, or achieving goals. Vacationing can benefit people in many ways, from reducing stress to enriching their lives.

Spiritual or pastoral counselling is a type of psychotherapy that integrates both psychological and spiritual aspects of healing and growth. It is offered by certified pastoral counsellors, who have training in both mental health and religion or theology.

Some people visit Aruba to get away from home and release tensions from work or occupation. Others like to take advantage during their holiday also to reflect on stressors on their lives, or their values and goals. While others again might face personal or relational crisis, such as loss, a conflict or a transition and seek guidance and support. Those seeking spiritual renewal, growth, healing or they like to explore their beliefs, doubts and life questions together with someone who offers wisdom and compassion.

Spiritual or pastoral counselling can help people who have strong religious beliefs or who prefer a counsellor who shares their faith. It can also help people who are facing spiritual or existential issues, such as meaning, purpose, forgiveness, or hope.

Pastor Vincent holds a bachelor degree in nursing and is specialised as social psychiatric nurse and holds a master degree in divinity and followed specialist courses on clinical pastoral care.

In sessions of one hour we seek solutions for these themes through conversation, prayer, meditation, scripture, or rituals, to address the emotional, mental and spiritual needs. Spiritual or pastoral counselling is different from religious counselling, which may focus more on doctrine or morality and may not have professional standards or accreditation. Spiritual or pastoral counselling is a holistic approach that respects the diversity and dignity of each person.

Coming to age celebration

Although we are being convinced that puberty is a confusing phase and hormone infused time frame in growing to be an adult, it is our belief it’s a growth to mature-hood that should be celebrated. In various parts of the world and in different religions, puberty or coming of age is celebrated. Like in India is the start of a girl’s puberty celebrated in the feasts of Raja Prabha and in the USA Sweet 16 is a big happening, Spring Feasts in Northern West Europe and Bar Mitzvah in the Jewish tradition or confirmation in Catholic denominations.

This time is important for boys and girls to be part of a larger whole, to find purpose and start to be taken serious. A ritual helps to symbolise this connection of purity, connection and for parents to express their gratitude and wishes for the celebrant’s future. An offering and rich symbols of importance and the creating of a dramatic momentum helps as anchor point in this time span for a boy or girl this age.

‘See you again’ services

The belief that your loved one lives on in another realm—such as heaven, paradise, kingdom, Nirvana or Valhalla—can be a source of comfort. Alternatively, some find peace in honoring the life their loved one led on Earth and preserving their precious memories. Either way, it’s essential to have someone who can articulately convey your feelings and help you arrange a farewell that allows the living to move on. The loss of a loved one can leave a void that feels empty and cold. A symbolic gesture can be like a monument erected for your loved one. Aruba Ministries is renowned for their expertise in this area and works with you to find the most suitable way to achieve closure, farewell and continuation.

The beach preach

Aruba Ministries does not own land, many goods or a church building nor place of worship in particular. “Gods’ true cathedral” is the nature and the beach and the blue seas that surround us (1 Kings 19:9-18). on different locations on the island we will either have a prayer or eucharistic service. follow us on Facebook where we pop-up next: https://www.facebook.com/aruba.ministries

As guideline for prayer, we use the Book of Common Prayer. Services are held in English,
Aswell: most hotels have a center of silence, chapel or room for reflections. Occasionally the hotels invite us to lead in prayer and meet with their guests. For the hotels it’s of upmost importance that their guest feels good and often a guest’s religious praxis is part of their wellbeing
